When you call a handyman in Woodland Hills about the TV above the fireplace, the mirrors and a few shelves, what you want to know first is the price. Ours comes from the install board, one flat price per install.

The price depends on the install and the wall behind it, and in Woodland Hills the wall depends a lot on which side of Ventura Boulevard you are on and whether the room has been redone.

What comes with every install

  • One flat price each. The board price is the price for that install.
  • Free to quote. Install days are same-week, Monday to Saturday, 7am to 7pm.
  • A text within two hours. We confirm your price and your day by text, between 7am and 7pm.
  • Level before we pack up. You see the bubble centered before we leave.
  • A one-year workmanship warranty. If it comes loose, we come back at no charge.

Your first week in a house off Mulholland Drive

When you have just moved into a hillside house south of Ventura Boulevard, or a ranch house on the flats up by Victory Boulevard, everything that is going on the walls can be one install day.

  • One total, confirmed by text. Each piece keeps its board price, and we add them up before we hold the day.
  • Carrying it in. Tell us about the driveway and the stairs, and we plan how the big screen gets from the van to the living room.
  • High walls. If the TV is going well up a tall wall, tell us the ceiling height so we bring the right ladder.
  • The old place. If you are leaving an apartment at the same time, we can take the old mounts down there and patch the holes, quoted in writing.
  • A full morning. The TV, two mirrors, a couple of shelves and the rod over the slider can all go up in one morning.

What we put up in Woodland Hills houses

  • The TV. It may go above the fireplace in a ranch house or on the long wall of a family room in the hills, and our TV mounting page shows the brackets that suit each wall.
  • Picture hanging and mirrors. A gallery wall, a heavy mirror over a dresser or frames up a staircase go on our picture and mirror hanging price.
  • Floating shelves. You see the level on each shelf before we move to the next one.
  • Curtain rods. We hang a rod across a wide slider so it does not sag in the middle.
  • Flat-pack furniture. We do furniture assembly for the boxes still stacked in the garage, and we strap a bookcase or dresser to the wall on the same visit.

Repairs we can add to the day

Repairs are quoted in writing first, whether booked on their own or added to an install day.

  • Drywall patch. We patch anchor holes, doorknob dents and old mount holes and texture them to match. Our page on drywall repair covers it.
  • Sliding door repair. A patio slider that will not glide gets its rollers and track looked at, and we do screen door repair and sliding door screen replacement too.
  • Door repair. For door repair, we rehang a door that sticks or will not latch so it sits square in the frame.
  • Screens. We do window screen repair, and full window screen replacement when you want new mesh in the frame.
  • Ceiling fan installation. We hang it on a box that is made to carry a fan, where a light fixture is now.
  • Caulking and faucets. We recaulk tubs and showers and do like-for-like faucet swaps.

Plaster on the flats, drywall in the hills

The ranch houses on the flats went up after the war, and most of the hillside houses south of Ventura Boulevard came later and bigger, so the two sides of the boulevard are often in different columns.

  • Plaster. A postwar ranch house often has a thin plaster coat over lath, and it looks like drywall until you drill.
  • Drywall. You will find it in most of the hillside houses, any ranch house that has been remodeled, and the apartments and condos.
  • Brick or concrete. This is the fireplace wall on both sides of the boulevard, and in some hillside houses a concrete wall where the house meets the slope.
  • Metal studs. A few of the newer apartment buildings are framed this way.

Each wall has its price on the install board. If you cannot tell what you have, say so. We quote the install for both columns it might fall in, and a quick look at the door settles it before the first hole.

What Woodland Hills callers want to know first

Is it more in the hills?

No. The install and the wall set the price, and a TV on drywall up a steep driveway off Mulholland Drive costs the same as one on the flats. If we find something the board does not cover, you hear about it before the first hole and you can say no.

Can you mount a TV above a stone fireplace?

Usually, as long as there is solid masonry behind the stone. Stacked stone is a different job that the board does not cover, so we would want to see it first and give you a separate price in writing.

Do you cover Tarzana too?

Yes. Tarzana next door is on the same install days as Woodland Hills, same-week, Monday to Saturday, and the board is the same there.

Give us a call at (310) 857-2520, say what is going up and which wall it is going on, and we text back your flat price and your install day.

We also work in Calabasas and Encino.
