Window screen replacement, pulled tight and square
Torn mesh goes back tight in its own frame. A bent frame is rebuilt square, so the screen sits flat in the window.

Free to quote. Same-week days, Monday to Saturday, 7am to 7pm.
Screens we fix
- A window screen with a tear, a hole or mesh that sags.
- A window that never had a screen, so it stays shut through summer.
- A frame bent at one corner that won't sit in the window.
- A patio slider whose screen jumps the track every few days.
- Mesh a dog or a cat has pushed through.
Tight mesh in a square frame
Usually the frame is fine and only the mesh has failed. The old mesh comes out, new mesh is pressed into the frame's channel with fresh spline, and it's pulled tight so it lies flat across the frame. We keep the frame square while we work, so it still fits the window.
A bent or missing frame is rebuilt. We measure the opening, cut new frame to size and join the corners square.
Standard fiberglass mesh suits most windows. Pet-resistant mesh is heavier and stands up to paws. Tell us which you want when you ask for a day.
Patio and sliding screen doors
When a sliding screen door jumps its track, we set it back on and adjust it to run the full length. A bent frame is straightened or rebuilt, and the mesh goes back tight.
How a screen goes back in
- Tell us how many screens, and which windows. Say if any frame is bent or missing.
- We quote it in writing. Then we hold your day.
- Each screen comes out and gets its new mesh. It goes back in the window it came from.
- We check each one in place. The mesh lies flat and the frame sits square in the opening.
- We sweep up. Old mesh and offcuts leave with us.
What the price depends on
- How many screens. Each is quoted, and they can share one visit.
- Mesh only, or the frame as well. Rescreening is quicker than rebuilding a frame.
- The mesh you pick. Pet-resistant mesh costs more than standard fiberglass.
- Size. A sliding screen door is more work than a window screen.
Screen repair questions
Can you make a screen for a window that has none?
Yes. We measure the opening and build a new screen to fit it.
What about cracked or fogged glass?
Glass is a glazier's work. If a pane is cracked or fogged, we tell you on the first call.
My screen blew out in the wind. The mesh is fine, so why won't it go back in?
Wind tends to leave the mesh whole and knock the frame out of square when the screen lands. We press the corners back to square, or rebuild the frame if a corner has cracked, so the screen fits its window again.
Repair or a new screen door?
Usually repair. New mesh and a straightened frame fix the usual faults. If the frame is past that, you hear it before we start, and a new screen door is quoted.
My screen keeps falling out. Can you fix that?
Usually. A screen falls out when its frame is a little small for the opening or its spring clips are bent. We adjust the clips, or rebuild the frame to fit the opening.
Window and door screens
New mesh pulled tight in the old frame, or the frame rebuilt. Patio screen doors set back on their track.
Some jobs are outside handyman work, such as a new circuit or a re-pipe. If that's what your job needs, we tell you on the first call.
Book a repair on its own or on the same day as an install.
