Drywall repair, patched until the wall reads flat
Tell us the hole and the room. The patch is textured to match, then checked in side light before we call it finished.

Free to quote. Same-week days, Monday to Saturday, 7am to 7pm.
What we patch
- A doorknob dent behind a door that swings too far.
- Bolt holes where a TV bracket or a shelf used to hang.
- Anchor holes across a wall after a move out.
- A hairline crack that climbs from a door frame toward the ceiling.
- An opening cut to reach plumbing or wiring, never closed up.
- An old patch that still shows.
Flat in side light
A patch can pass from across the room and still show when the sun rakes along the wall. So we check every patch in side light, with a bright light aimed along the wall from low down, and sand again wherever an edge throws a shadow.
Small holes usually take one visit. A larger hole gets a backing piece screwed in behind it, then tape and compound.
Then the texture. Most walls in LA homes are orange peel or knockdown, and some are smooth. We match what's around the patch so the texture doesn't stop at its edge.
Plaster walls
Plaster is patched with materials that bond to plaster. If the wall gives when you press it, it gets fastened back to the framing before any filler goes on, because filler over a wall that moves cracks again.
How a patch gets finished
- Describe the damage. Its rough size and the room are enough. A photo helps but is never required.
- The quote comes in writing before we hold your day. If it takes a second visit to finish, the quote says so.
- The floor is covered. Sanding dust lands on the drop cloth and leaves with it.
- We patch and sand. The texture goes on to match, then the side-light check.
- Paint, if you asked for it. Painting the patch out is quoted with the repair.
What the price depends on
- How many holes, and how big. Anchor holes are quick. A hole you could put a fist through takes a backing piece.
- The texture. A smooth wall shows the most and takes the longest to finish.
- A second visit. Large patches dry overnight before the finish.
- Paint. Old paint fades, so a touch-up can show. If it might, we say so and quote the wall from corner to corner.
- Height. A ceiling patch takes longer than one at hand height.
Drywall repair questions
Can you match my texture?
Usually. Orange peel and knockdown match well. A hand-troweled plaster finish takes more care, and once we've seen it we tell you how close the match will be.
Why do big patches take two visits?
Compound has to dry right through before it's sanded. Sanded early, it shrinks back and shows. The second short visit finishes it.
The wall is wet. Can you patch it?
Not until it's dry. A wet patch means water is still getting in, and new compound over it fails. After the leak is repaired and the board has dried right through, we cut out the damaged piece and patch it.
Can you fill the bolt holes an old TV left?
Yes. If the TV is going up somewhere else, both jobs go on one quote and one visit.
Drywall and plaster patches
Anchor holes and doorknob dents filled, sanded and textured until the wall reads flat. Large patches need a night to dry and a second short visit to finish.
Some jobs are outside handyman work, such as a new circuit or a re-pipe. If that's what your job needs, we tell you on the first call.
