Hiring a handyman in the San Fernando Valley to hang a TV can mean an older bungalow in the East Valley, a ranch house in the West Valley or an apartment on Sepulveda Boulevard, and each of those has a different wall behind the paint.
The Valley is a big place, so we do not guess. You tell us the building and the room, and the install board gives the flat price for that install on that wall.
What comes with every install
- One flat price each. The board price is the price for that install.
- Free to quote. Install days are same-week, Monday to Saturday, 7am to 7pm.
- A text within two hours. We confirm your price and your day by text, between 7am and 7pm.
- Level before we pack up. You see the bubble centered before we leave.
- A one-year workmanship warranty. If it comes loose, we come back at no charge.
What we put on Valley walls
- TVs. We mount them on the living room wall of a ranch house, over the fireplace in an older bungalow, or in the bedroom of an apartment along the boulevards. Our TV mounting page has the brackets for each kind of wall.
- Mirrors and frames. A long mirror or a row of family pictures goes up on our picture and mirror hanging price, and the heavy ones go into studs.
- Shelves. We put up floating shelves on a hidden bracket, and then you can look at the level with us.
- Curtain rods. In the inland heat a big window may need heavier curtains, and we hang a long rod that can carry them.
- Furniture assembly and anchoring. We build flat-pack pieces on our furniture assembly price and strap the tall ones to the wall.
Your move-in install day off Sepulveda Boulevard
If you have just moved into a Valley house or apartment, everything that needs to go up can go on one install day.
- The total first. We text one total made up of the board price of each piece, and we hold the day once you say yes.
- Room by room. We work through the place in the order you choose, whether that is a house or an apartment.
- Hillside homes. If you are south of Ventura Boulevard on a hillside street, tell us about any stairs or a steep driveway so we can work out how to bring in a big TV.
- Renters and landlords. If you rent along the boulevards, please clear the drilling with your landlord first. If you own the building, we can get the rods and mirrors up in a unit between tenants.
Small home repairs to add while we are out
We quote each one in writing before we hold the day, and you can book it alone if that suits you better.
- Drywall holes. When a hole needs drywall repair, we patch it and match the texture around it.
- Door knobs and sticking doors. We can fix a door knob that has come loose, and for door repair on a door that drags, we rehang it square.
- Weather stripping and caulking. We put new weather stripping on an outside door and run window caulking where the hot air is getting in.
- Screens. If a window or patio screen is torn, our window screen replacement page shows what we do about it.
East Valley walls and West Valley walls
The Valley has all four columns of the board, and where you live gives you a good idea of which one you are in.
- Plaster. Older bungalows in the East Valley, including around Pacoima, often have plaster over lath, and so do many postwar ranch houses across the flats.
- Drywall. The hillside homes in Woodland Hills and south of Ventura Boulevard are often drywall, as are remodeled rooms anywhere in the Valley.
- Brick or concrete. Expect this on a fireplace wall in either part of the Valley.
- Metal studs. A newer apartment building along the boulevards may be framed in steel.
The install board prices each of these in its own column. It makes no difference to the price which side of the Sepulveda Basin or the Los Angeles River you are on. If you are unsure of the wall, say so, and we check it at the door before the first hole.
Questions about the Valley and the board
Why would the same TV cost more in one house than another?
The TV is the same, and the wall is not. On drywall it goes up on lag screws into two studs, and on brick we set anchors into the masonry, which is why brick is the top of the board.
Is Pacoima on the same install days as Woodland Hills?
Yes. The East Valley and the West Valley are both in our area, with same-week days from Monday to Saturday and the same board in both.
What happens if you find something the board does not cover?
You hear about it before the first hole, and you can say no. A stacked stone fireplace is one example, and we would look at it and give you a separate price in writing.
