How old your house is matters when you hire a handyman in Pasadena to put something on a wall. A Craftsman bungalow in Bungalow Heaven and a condo off Lake Avenue can sit in different columns on the install board, and the column helps set your flat price.
So we start with the wall, whether you have owned your home for decades or have just signed a lease.
What comes with every install
- One flat price each. The board price is the price for that install.
- Free to quote. Install days are same-week, Monday to Saturday, 7am to 7pm.
- A text within two hours. We confirm your price and your day by text, between 7am and 7pm.
- Level before we pack up. You see the bubble centered before we leave.
- A one-year workmanship warranty. If it comes loose, we come back at no charge.

Three questions about Pasadena's older walls
Can old plaster hold a big TV?
Yes, because the plaster is not what carries the weight. We run longer screws through the plaster and lath and into the studs behind them, so the TV hangs from the frame of the house.
How can I tell plaster from drywall?
Press a small pin into a spot that will stay hidden, such as behind a door. It goes into drywall easily and stops hard on plaster. If you are still not sure, tell us, and we settle it at the door before anything is drilled.
Is the bracket included in the price?
No. The flat price covers our labor and the anchors that suit your wall, and the bracket, shelf or rod is yours to buy. Give us the TV model and we can say whether the bracket you have in mind will work there.
TV mounting in Pasadena and everything else we put up
- The TV. In a bungalow living room the TV can go on the brick around the fireplace or on the plaster next to it, and those are two different prices. Our TV mounting page goes through the brackets that work on each wall.
- Mirrors and pictures. A tall bedroom mirror or a line of frames in a Madison Heights hallway goes up on our picture and mirror hanging price. Heavy pieces go on screws into the studs.
- Floating shelves. The bracket goes through the plaster and into the studs, so a full shelf stays level.
- Curtain rods. We hang the rod across a wide window so the weight of the curtains does not pull it into a sag.
- Tall furniture. We strap a bookcase or dresser to the studs, in an apartment off Lake Avenue or in a house.
- Flat-pack furniture. Our furniture assembly price covers putting it together, and we can anchor the piece before we leave.
Small repairs while we are in your Pasadena home
Each repair is quoted in writing before we hold the day, whether you add it to an install or book it by itself.
- Old mount holes. For drywall repair, we patch the wall where an old mount or anchor came out, and we patch plaster the same way.
- Doors and frames. If a door sticks in an old frame or will not latch, we do the door repair and rehang it square so that it closes.
- Screens. We handle window screen repair, door screen replacement and sliding door screen replacement, and our window screen replacement page has the details.
- Fans and faucets. We swap a faucet like for like, and we hang a ceiling fan on a box that is made to carry one.

Which wall you have, from Bungalow Heaven to the Lower Arroyo
Many Pasadena houses date from the early 1900s to the 1930s, so the board's plaster and brick columns matter more here than in a newer town.
- Plaster. Original rooms in Bungalow Heaven, Madison Heights and the Lower Arroyo often still have plaster over lath.
- Brick. The fireplace wall in a Craftsman or a period revival home is usually brick.
- Drywall. The apartments and condos around Lake Avenue are mostly drywall, and so is any older room that has been remodeled.
- Metal studs. A newer condo building can be framed in steel.
The install board has a column for each of these four, so you can see how yours is priced before you call.
A remodel can leave drywall in one room of a 1920s house and plaster in the next, so please tell us which room the install is going in. If we find something the board does not cover, you hear it before the first hole and you can say no.
One install day after you move in off Lake Avenue
A new place usually comes with a stack of things waiting to go up, and all of them can go on one install day, whether you are off Lake Avenue, off Orange Grove Boulevard or down by the Rose Bowl.
- A single total. Every piece keeps its own board price, and we add them up and text you the total before we hold the day.
- The whole morning. A TV, two mirrors, two shelves and a curtain rod all fit in one morning, in whatever order you like.
- If you rent. Please get your landlord's okay before we drill. If you are also leaving an apartment, we can take the old mounts down there and patch the holes, quoted in writing.
Call (310) 857-2520, tell us what is going up and which room it is in, and we will text you the flat price and the install day.
Our install days also take in Altadena, Alhambra and Arcadia.
