Two houses side by side can be very different here, and a handyman in El Segundo has to allow for that. An older small home west of Sepulveda Boulevard may still have its original walls while the rebuilt house next to it has new ones, and the install board prices those differently.

Original El Segundo houses and rebuilt ones
- An older small home. The original rooms may well be plaster.
- A rebuilt house. New walls are usually drywall.
- A duplex or an apartment. These are mostly drywall too, whether near Main Street or by Imperial Highway.
- A fireplace or a garage wall. You may have a brick fireplace indoors or a block wall in an alley garage.
If your older house has had rooms redone, you may have two of these under one roof, so tell us which room you mean. Then the install board shows what each wall costs, and if you cannot tell, we check at the door before the first hole.
A few things to sort out around Main Street
What do you need from me for an apartment building?
If there is a gate code or visitor parking, send it when you book. We also like to know what floor you are on if a big screen is going up the stairs.
Can you put shelves up in my alley garage?
Yes. Tell us what the garage walls are made of if you know, because the wall picks the column out there just as it does in the house.
What if you find something the board does not cover?
You hear about it before the first hole, and you can say no. The installs that are on the board keep their board price.
What goes up in a small El Segundo room
- The TV. A smaller living room in an older home may leave one good wall for it, and that wall sets the column for the TV mounting.
- Pictures and mirrors. A mirror at the end of a narrow hall or a row of frames goes on our picture and mirror hanging price.
- Floating shelves. A shelf on the wall keeps the floor clear in a small room.
- Curtain rods. A wide window in a small room can take a long rod, and we hang it straight.
- Furniture. Our furniture assembly price puts the flat-pack together, and a tall piece can be anchored to the wall.
