Victorian plaster, tract drywall and the rest of Pomona's walls

- Drywall. Many of the postwar tract houses across the flats have it, and so do the newer hillside homes and most apartments.
- Brick or concrete. You will run into this at a fireplace, and in a detached garage with block walls.
- Metal studs. These are less common in Pomona, but a newer apartment building may have them.

- The big screen. A TV on plaster takes more care than a TV on drywall, so tell us which you have when you ask about TV mounting.
- Frames and mirrors. A set of frames down a Craftsman hallway or a tall mirror in an apartment bedroom both come under picture and mirror hanging.
- Shelves. The bracket stays hidden, so all you see is the shelf, on plaster or on drywall.
- Bookcases and dressers. We strap tall pieces to the wall, and our furniture assembly price covers building the flat-pack ones.
- Curtain rods. Pomona summers are hot, so a heavy curtain on a sunny window makes sense, and we screw the rod into something that will carry it.
